Priorities
It's with the right priorities and focus, such as ones that put students, teachers, and staff first, that we can work together to champion for continued progress in the Osceola School District. Learn more about Heather's campaign priorities below.
My Campaign Priorities
Successful Students
Providing a quality education
Since 2022, we've seen measurable progress in student achievement, with our graduation rate increasing to 89% - a 4-percentage point improvement that reflects our commitment to ensuring every student crosses the finish line.
The district's strategic plan continues to focus on high-quality, equitable, standards-based instruction that meets students where they are.

True equity means ensuring each student has what they need to be successful - whether that's advanced coursework, specialized support services, or individualized accommodations.

Moving forward, I'm committed to:

-
Continuing to close achievement gaps while raising standards for all students
-
Expanding access to rigorous academic programs and career pathways
-
Ensuring ESE students receive appropriate, individualized support through our enhanced service delivery model
-
Holding ourselves accountable to outcomes, not just intentions
Students first, always.
Valued Educators
Prioritizing funds and resources for educators
As a former educator, I know the difference high-performing teachers make in students' lives and our community's future.
While we've made progress - including salary increases and reduced teacher vacancies from 120 to 68 despite a national shortage - I know our work isn't done. Competitive compensation remains critical to recruiting and retaining the excellent educators our students deserve.

Fostering a positive work environment and growing our workforce

Since 2022, we've expanded professional development opportunities and expanded initiatives like the Future Teachers Academy to grow our own educators right here in Osceola. This program excites me because it allows us to attract students who are already invested in our community and prepare them as future educators.

Moving forward, I'm committed to:

-
Advocating for competitive salaries that reflect the vital work educators do
-
Expanding pathways for students to enter the teaching profession
-
Continuing to listen to teachers and staff about what they need to be successful
-
Supporting professional growth opportunities that help educators excel in their practice

Our educators are our greatest asset, and investing in them is investing in every child's future.

Safe and Robust Schools
Keeping SROs on our campuses

Student and staff safety remains a top priority. Since 2022, we've made significant investments in school security infrastructure, including secure lobby installations and enhanced emergency response protocols.
Our partnerships with local law enforcement continue to ensure School Resource Officers are present on every district-managed campus, providing both security and positive mentorship for our students.

Ensuring funding for quality education

With the district's strategic plan as our guiding force, we must ensure we have the funding necessary to reach our goals. Since 2022, I've worked alongside my fellow board members to be fiscally responsible stewards of taxpayer dollars, overseeing hundreds of millions in facility improvements funded by voter-approved sales tax revenues.

We've opened new schools like Cross Prairie K-8, completed comprehensive renovations, and maintained strong fiscal oversight while investing in both people and infrastructure.

Moving forward, I'm committed to:

-
Maintaining SROs on every campus while continuing to build positive school climates
-
Completing remaining security infrastructure projects
-
Ensuring every dollar is spent wisely and transparently
-
Advocating at the state level for adequate funding that reflects the true cost of educating children
-
Balancing fiscal responsibility with the investments needed for educational excellence

Being entrusted with taxpayer resources is a responsibility I take seriously, and every budget decision must ultimately answer one question: Does this help our students succeed?
